Confirmation bias is real. Algorithms reinforce previously viewed material to get you to click again.
One person or a small group of people does not mean something is common or universal.
Editing technology has amazing benefits, but this means that things can be changed which can impact what is presented. Have you heard of deep fakes? AI tools are making such editing available to more people. Do you know the intention and impact behind the modifications?
Sometimes the information you consume includes links to the sources it used. Have you checked to see if the source material is reliable? Is the author/creator misrepresenting the source material? Are they "cherry picking" the information they include from the source?
Just because a "study" or a "clinical study" was done, does not mean it was done well and does not mean it was done ethically or without a hidden agenda. Peer-reviewed means other people with similar expertise have viewed the methods and peer-reviewed journals typically require disclosures to ensure that readers know funding sources.
It's important to verify the information you consume. This includes information in all its forms whether it is written, pictures, video, or audio. It is especially important to verify if there is a social media component.
Anyone can put anything online. I did.
